The Bamboos
Published in Paperback by Smithsonian Institution Press (November, 1993)
Average review score:

A great Bamboo Reference!I bought this book several years ago - and I use it often when I need to look up a bamboo species. My knowledge of bamboo was rather limited, and I find it interesting that these grass species are found in Asia, as well as South America. For anyone interested in grasses, this book is a must!

Brown Honey in Broomwheat Tea
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Average review score:

Breathtaking and empoweringThe illustrations are stunning and the poems are simple and spectacular. An amazing read for any child, these poems are especially empowering for young african american children. It's unusual to find a book that doesn't make an issue of being a "minority." I highly, highly recommend it.

An involving personal biographyFrom Small Bits Of Charcoal: The Life & Works Of A Cajun Artist is the eye-catching artbook featuring the black-and-white charcoal works of Floyd Sonnier. Carving and Painting the American Kestrel With Floyd Schulz
Published in Paperback by Stackpole Books (April, 2003)
Average review score:

Another great book from FloydThis is the best of the 'Carving & Painting' series of books, and should be on the shelf of every serious bird carver. Not only does it cover carving and painting techniques, but it provides some beautiful reference photos of male and female kestrels. It also discusses wood choices, tools, patterns, and design and composition. It's a lot of information at a very reasonable price!

Computers and Information Processing/Application Software Edition

Interesting and in-depth, great VALUE for moneyAlthough the book might appear to be thick to some, but don't fear. Reading it is a pure pleasure that educates you along the way. It provides tremendous amounts of information about computers and immerses you in their world. Inside you will find that the content is clearly laid out, and easy to comprehend. Chapters are arranged by subject in a very thoughtful way and deal with a wide spectrum of issues pertaining to computers and their role in our lives. Altogether there are 14 Chapters. The book is devided into 5 parts: -Introduction ( Information Processing, Digital World ), -Hardware ( Input Devices and Media, CPU and Memory, Output Devices and Media, Secondary Storage, Telecommunications), -Software and Data Managment ( System Software, Files and Data Bases, Data Managment ), -Systems and Development ( Systems Software, Computer Files and Data Bases, Data Managment ), -Systems and Development (Inforamion Systems, Computers and Problem Solving, Software Developmet and Programming, Developing Information Systems), -Computers and Society ( security, Ethics, Crime, Future ), I would recommend this book to all those interested in computers, both novice as well as to those more advanced and experienced computer users, as that this book will develop along with your knowledge and skills. It introduces you into the world of computers, how they operate, and then progresses to more practical things such as their uses. It then goes to more advance topics such as databases, software development, programiing and security. At the end of the book you will find a section on programming in QuickBasic ( around 150 pages ) and 3 modules on word processing, spreadsheets and data bases. This book provides an indepth account into how computers work, how they are built, their evolution and future decelopment. I applaud "Computers and Information Processing" to anyone who wants to learn about computers, and hope that you will have as much pleasure with this book as I've had.

A Cowboy for Clementine (Harlequin Superromance, No. 1029)
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (December, 1901)
Average review score:

Rich in the real things of lifeSusan Floyd has a knack for presenting a story so real and down to earth and moving I have to take my hat off to her.
Her characters struggle with the problems all of us struggle with, but they're not just the surface difficulties of rounding up wild cows or running a ranch alone. The inner fears and strengths of Real Life are presented with insight and compassion,
and the growth and resilience of her hero and heroine are inspiring. Ms. Floyd understands life and doesn't flinch from grappling with it.

I loved the ranch setting, the lovingly detailed mid-California countryside, the banter among the cowhands, the clearly not-stereotypical heroine with her verve and insecurity
combined into a real, struggling, brave, person who learns to take risks. And the hero... well, we all want one like Dexter Scott.
This is the kind of writer whose works I will continue to seek; they ring with honesty and they touch me deeply.

Cyborg Babies: From Techno-Sex to Techno-Tots
Published in Paperback by Routledge (August, 1998)
Average review score:

Anthology of Feminism, Technoscience and ReproductionSixteen essays make a contribution to "cyborg anthropology" and "cyborg feminism." Volume considers human reproduction through the lens of an interrogation of the cyborg metaphor, its power, pleasure, promise, and threat. Section one essays discuss medico-technological interventions in conception and contraception including production of "technosemen." Section two includes essays by Emily Martin, Rayna Rapp and others, examining gestation and the use of medical imaging (ultrasound) and screening (amniocentesis) technologies to produce "normal" and "healthy" fetuses. Section three essays consider technobirth, focusing on the medical monitoring and management of the mother's body. Section four considers childrearing in a digital culture, including essay by Sherry Turkle on cyborg babies in a culture of "simulation." Exceptional introduction by David-Floyd and Dumit provides historical/theoretical overview of cyborg metaphor as quintessential postmodern myth and tool.
